Chronic diseases are a class of diseases that can last for a very long time. Some chronic diseases, whose treatments are still under development, can last with patients for the rest of their life. However, it is possible to control or treat chronic diseases through medication and changes in lifestyle. Chronic diseases may have minor or unnoticeable symptoms in the beginning, but, they can be very serious if ignored for a long time. In this blog, we’ll discuss some common chronic diseases.

Heart Diseases

Some of the most common chronic illnesses include heart disease. Chronic heart disease happens when your heart does not pump blood in your body properly. It can take a long time for chronic heart disease to show up its symptoms. When it shows clear symptoms, It has already become a chronic disease. Heart diseases usually happen due to physical inactivity and unhealthy diets.


Cardiac asthma is a type of chronic disease that happens due to the failure of the heart. It happens due to the build-up of fluid in your heart. When the heart fails, it loses the ability to clear this fluid from the lungs. A patient with asthma has a higher risk of cardiovascular diseases like heart attack, stroke, etc.


Dementia is not a disease, but, a condition that involves weaknesses in the brain. Dementia can be chronic and canbe long-lasting. Dementias like Alzheimer’s disease can show very minor symptoms in the beginning, but, it can be so serious that a person might get unable to have conversations and understand surrounding environments at all. This disease occurs due to the buildup of protein in and around the brain cells. However, it is possible to reduce its symptoms by following some good diets and habits.


Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease isthe full form of COPD. It is a general term for diseases that include breathing-related problems. Some most notable symptoms of the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease include frequent coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath.


It is possible to treat cancer, but, it can be chronic as well, which means it might take a long time to completely eradicate it. Researchers are still trying to find some reliable treatments for a variety of cancers. However,  until their discovery, some types of cancers can stay among patients for the rest of life.

Crohn’s Disease

It is a type of chronic disease that can cause inflammation and irritation in the digestive tract of humans. It usually affects the small intestine and a part of the large intestine. But, it is not necessary as it can affect any part of the digestive tract. It is possible to reduce its signs through therapies.


Diabetes is a type of disease that is caused by insulin resistance. It happens when insulin in your body does not carry glucose from the blood into muscles. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease that can affect a patient of sugar for the rest of his/her life. It requires a lot of dedication to control type 2 diabetes.
