Plant vaccines would reduce or eliminate such issues as vaccine injury, trypanophobia (fear of needles), controversial cell lines, etc. However, emergency immunoglobulin would still need to be administered via injection, so the rabies PEP procedure wouldn't get any cheaper or less painful. The biggest issue I can see with this is the same issue I see with fluoridated water: Government mandated experiments on a national scale without the knowledge or consent of the test subjects. In other words, gross violations of the Nuremberg Code.

This sounds really revolutionary! However I am concerned how MUCH of the vaccine a chicken would need to consume before it's effective or if too much could overwhelm their immune system. Just food for thought.

I hope this fails to reach human trials. They probably won't label these plants as such so they can force vaccinate people.

I worked on oral vaccines in plants. Our ultimate goal was an HIV vaccine that would be shelf stable to ship to Africa.
There were 2 problems: 1. All the traditional HIV vaccines underperformed. 2. Sometimes the plants that are great at gene expression like potatoes and corn and soybeans are usually cooked which denatures proteins.

If you can eat plants with vaccines in them then we should also have animals with vaccines in them for eating.
Buckets of steak tartare or something that vaccinate you would be awesome.

Are the precise doses less important with oral vaccines? How do we make sure people or chickens don't eat too little to be effective or so much it becomes dangerous?

The same problem holds true for using plants for anything.
How do you grow these plants in a dessert, how do poor countries get this ,and how do you grow these plants in forest and wet lands without destroying the natural landscape.

This is so cool! But I can easily foresee some conspiracy theorist who doesn't understand science coming across this video and spreading misinformation that the government is putting vaccines(and microchips) into our food to target the "woke" people who avoided getting the covid vaccine
